Baltimore, Maryland Description This course has been designed to fill the current needs of pediatricians, family practitioners and allied health professionals interested in the care of infants, children and adolescents. In its 38th consecutive year, Pediatric Trends is designed to review recent advances in biomedical and behavioral sciences, which will have an impact upon the health and medical care of children from fetal life through adolescence. Combining lectures in pediatric science, clinical demonstrations, conferences and symposia, a problem-oriented approach is emphasized. Who Should Attend This activity is intended for pediatricians, family practitioners, physician assistants, pediatric nurse practitioners and other allied health professionals interested in the care of infants, children and adolescents. Objectives After attending this activity, the participant will demonstrate the ability to: - assess indoor allergens and advise on environmental control - assess and manage cardiac, respiratory and orthopedic issues in the teenage athlete at the time of the pre-participation sports exam - recognize and apply the latest recommendations on vaccine administration in infants, children and teens - identify the health consequences of Vitamin D and effectively assess and manage Vitamin D excess and deficiency - assess and recommend the new NICU practice of hypothermia to treat hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy Accreditation Statement The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
