DESCRIPTION

This one-day, case-based format symposium is designed to update arrhythmia management health workers on relevant topics including, controversial issues, new and improved medications and devices, and new techniques for treating related conditions. There will be ample panel discussion and question and answer time, in an open forum setting, to address these controversial topics. There is a separate non-physician track that periodically breaks out and rejoins the physician track for those interested in allied health lectures. Please see the program for more details.

OBJECTIVES

After attending this activity, the participant will demonstrate the ability to:
  • Review and discuss controversial issues regarding management strategies
  • Examine new medications for arrhythmia management (ranolazine)
  • Identify current strategies for management of arrhythmia
  • Examine newly approved anticoagulants used for arrhythmia management (dabigatran and the xabans)
  • Review new techniques for catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation (cryo-balloon)
  • Review new techniques for catheter ablation of ventricular tachycardia (scar merge)
