A new era of MS therapeutics is upon us. The list of FDA approved therapies is not just expected to increase in size over the next three years, but the agents on the list will expand in complexity - each with a novel mechanism of action, benefit profile and risk potential. Neurologists treating MS patients are anxious to formulate protocols for initiating the ‘right’ therapy for the ‘right’ patient while balancing benefit and risk. To do this, a thorough understanding of the various risk potentials and risk mitigation strategies is essential

After viewing the program, the participant should demonstrate the ability to:
  • Describe the key data to consider in the assessment and management of risk of MS therapies
  • Discuss the balance required in managing the risk of MS itself and the risk of therapies to treat MS
  • Assess current practice of risk/benefit assessment in light of proposed alternatives
  • Describe a model for the assessment of risk and risk management of MS therapies
  • Outline the issues to consider in the prioritization of data in conducting a risk/benefit assessment
