Message from the Associate Dean

Welcome to the website for the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine Office of Continuing Medical Education.

We strive to provide exemplary educational activities which teach evidence-based practices and identify new and emerging health care needs and opportunities from research through delivery of care so that, through education, we can significantly improve health. In 2006, we offered over 380 continuing education activities that covered all branches of medicine. We are quite proud that over 75,000 healthcare professionals enrolled in these activities which were administered under the clinical and scientific guidance of the world-class Johns Hopkins faculty.

If you are a registrant, you will find enhanced search capabilities for our offerings which include the ability to search by keyword and core competency. In addition, if you create a user profile, once logged-in activities that meet your personal preset criteria will be provided preferentially to you and you can receive an email message informing you of new activities in your areas of interest whenever they are first added to the calender. Finally, the ability to follow up on your credit reports and to print duplicate certificates once issued will be available. We have also provided a page of important links that you will find useful for licensure, credentialing, and maintenance of certification processes.

If you are a faculty member, you will not only be able to utilize the site as a learner but as a teacher. The teacher capabilities will permit you to submit applications and disclosure electronically and to track "teaching credits" and related evaluation materials for a personal portfolio if you should so desire. In addition, the page of links also provides access to other web-based materials that might be useful in educational activities ranging from national healthcare needs, through Bloom's taxonomy of educational objectives, to educational outcome assessments.
